In the knowledge-driven global economy, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) has emerged as a critical component of innovation, creativity, and economic development. Higher education institutions (HEIs) play a pivotal role in fostering research, innovation, and knowledge creation, making IPR literacy essential for students and faculty alike. Teachers, as central agents of knowledge dissemination, are instrumental in promoting IPR awareness and literacy within academic environments. This research article examines the role of teachers in promoting IPR literacy in higher education, with a special focus on the Indian context. It explores conceptual frameworks, pedagogical strategies, institutional mechanisms, challenges, and policy implications. The study highlights that teachers act not only as educators but also as facilitators, mentors, innovators, and ethical guides in shaping IPR-conscious learners. The paper concludes with recommendations for strengthening teacher capacity, integrating IPR in curricula, and fostering a culture of innovation and legal awareness.
