Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Emerging Voices in Education is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics in publishing to ensure the integrity, transparency, and quality of academic research. This policy is aligned with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and the journal’s editorial team.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must ensure that their submissions meet the following ethical standards:

  • Originality:

    • Manuscripts must be the authors’ original work and free from plagiarism or any form of misrepresentation.

    • Previously published content should not be submitted unless properly cited and with explicit permission.

  • Authorship Transparency:

    • Only individuals who made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as authors.

    • All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

  • Data Accuracy and Integrity:

    • Data presented in the manuscript must be accurate, reliable, and honestly reported.

    • Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources:

    • Proper credit must be given to the work of others through accurate citations and references.

  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure:

    • Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence their research or its interpretation.

  • Multiple or Duplicate Submissions:

    • Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is strictly prohibited.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

The editorial team of IJEVE plays a vital role in maintaining the quality and ethics of the journal:

  • Fair and Unbiased Decisions:

    • Manuscripts will be evaluated solely on their academic merit, relevance, and contribution to the field of education, without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, or political beliefs.

  • Confidentiality:

    • Editors must maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use any unpublished material for personal gain.

  • Plagiarism and Ethical Compliance:

    • The Editor-in-Chief ensures that all submissions undergo plagiarism screening and comply with the journal’s ethical policies.

  • Conflict of Interest:

    • Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Peer reviewers are essential in safeguarding the integrity of the publication process:

  • Confidentiality:

    • Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

  • Objective Review:

    • Reviews must be constructive, objective, and unbiased, focusing only on the scholarly content.

  • Identification of Ethical Issues:

    • Reviewers should report any suspected plagiarism, ethical misconduct, or data fabrication to the editorial office.

  • Conflict of Interest:

    • Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.

4. Plagiarism and AI-Generated Content Policy

  • All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism before the review process begins.

  • Submissions containing more than 20% AI-generated content or unoriginal material will be rejected outright.

  • If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted and relevant institutions will be notified.

5. Handling Misconduct

  • Allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, authorship disputes, or data fabrication, will be investigated thoroughly by the editorial team.

  • The journal will follow COPE guidelines to resolve cases of misconduct, which may result in:

    • Article retraction.

    • Notification of the authors’ institutions.

    • Banning the authors from future submissions.

6. Ethical Compliance in Educational Research

  • Research involving human participants, students, or educational institutions must adhere to appropriate ethical standards, including:

    • Informed consent from participants.

    • Institutional review board (IRB) or equivalent approval, where required.

    • Respect for privacy and confidentiality of participants.

7. Commitment to Academic Integrity

By submitting a manuscript to International Journal of Emerging Voices in Education, authors, reviewers, and editors agree to uphold the principles of academic integrity and contribute to the advancement of ethical educational research and publication.
